During Benny's incarceration, his former associate Monk assumes leadership of the gang, as well as Benny's romantic interest, Frieda. Upon his release, Benny, having reformed and embraced a new life guided by his god-fearing mother's confidante, Bertha, wants no part in his past associations. However, Frieda persistently pursues him, employing tactics to incite jealousy, such as publicly announcing her engagement to Monk during a party.
Amidst the festivities, a rival gang's attack prompts Benny to reclaim control, rescuing Bertha in the chaos. A perilous pursuit ensues across rooftops, culminating in Monk's fatal fall. Benny finds himself accused of Monk's demise but is eventually exonerated of any wrongdoing.
