Murders in The Rue Morgue (1932)

In 1841 Paris, a sideshow performer named Dr. Mirakle exhibits his ape to fascinated crowds, claiming that humans have evolved from such primates. Dr. Mirakle sneers at the audience's lack of knowledge and then goes back to his secret lair. There, as a mad scientist, he plots to breed his ape with a human to create a modern version of the missing link.
