Jack Forbes, a wealthy American, has arrived in Paris. He can have any woman he wants, but currently, Marcelle Dubrey is on his arm. Jack abandons her when he sees the woman of his dreams. When he tells his friend Michael Cummins that he plans to marry her, Michael bets Jack $50,000 that he can't give up all his wealth and propose to her within two weeks. Jack accepts the bet, but Michael takes away all his money. Jack must win over the mystery woman without spending any money, while hiding the fact that he is broke and trying to earn some. Meanwhile, Michael hires detectives Simon Johanssen and Peter Swanson to keep an eye on Jack and stop his progress with the woman. However, Michael doesn't know that these two are poor detectives who are not very competent. The group encounters one misadventure after another as the two weeks go by.
