Melodie des Herzens (1929)
A young woman from the countryside loses her job as a maid in Budapest, when she stays out too long with her boyfriend, a soldier who is saving money to buy a horse and start a transportation company. After being unemployed for a while and falling behind on her rent, her landlady offers her a better paying job at a nightclub. Meanwhile, the soldier's family has arranged for him to marry the daughter of a wealthy farmer. When the soldier finds out about his girlfriend's new profession, he initially struggles with the decision but ultimately agrees to the arranged marriage. On the day of the engagement, his girlfriend arrives with enough money to buy a horse, causing a conflict between her, her fiance, their families, and the soldier's parents.
