Make Me a Star (1932)

Merton Gill, who dreams of becoming a cowboy actor, leaves his hometown for Hollywood. However, his acting skills are deemed lacking by industry professionals. Despite this, actress Flips gives him a chance for a small role. He fails in this opportunity, but his failure makes Flips believe he has potential as a comedian. She convinces the studio to cast him in a western parody without telling him, knowing he dislikes comedies. The movie ultimately becomes a commentary on art and the artists who serve it, featuring performances from Joan Blondell and Stuart Erwin.
