Lilac Time (1928)

Colleen Moore, Gary Cooper - Lilac Time

All of the handsome young men in their flying machines are staying in a field next to the Widow Berthelot's farmhouse in France during World War I. Her daughter Jeannine is curious about the young men fighting for England and their airplanes. One of the aviators is killed and is replaced by Captain Philip Blythe, who takes notice of Jeannine. When he first lands, she is standing in the middle of his "runway." He takes a better impression of her when he sees her later by the lilacs. When all of the young men depart on a mission, Blythe promises to return to her.
