Mister Roberts (1955)
A palm tree symbolizes the crazy authority of the captain on a cargo ship in the Pacific during World War II. Mr. Roberts rebels, hurls it overboard, and when he is transferred to a battleship and killed, Ensign Pulver repeats his act and assumes his position. 2
