Idol of the Crowds (1937)

John Wayne joins a professional hockey team and leads them to victory. However, before the championship games, he is offered a bribe to lose. He rejects the offer, and as a result, an attempt is made on his life. Unfortunately, the attack results in Bobby, the team's 12-year-old mascot, suffering serious injuries. Despite being injured during the second game, John bounces back and helps the team win the championship, along with the heart of the girl.
