Straightaway (1933)

Tim McCoy, Sue Carol - Straightaway

Auto racing champion Tim Dawson and his younger brother Billy lose their jobs when they refuse to throw a race to benefit the son of their former boss Turnberg. Pop Reeves, a fellow competitor, discovers that Turnberg bribed his driver Rogan to lose the race, and promptly fires him. Reeves hires the Dawsons and his daughter Ann becomes attracted to Tim. However, Billy also has feelings for Ann and proposes to her, but she rejects him and declares her love for Tim. During the next race, Rogan tries to cause Billy to crash but ends up dying in the accident. The police detective suspects Tim of causing the crash to ensure Billy's victory and threatens to charge him unless Billy loses the upcoming Indy 500. Tim is now faced with a difficult decision that could potentially ruin his racing career and his relationship with his brother.
