The Sorrows of Satan (1926)

The Sorrows of Satan

Geoffrey, a struggling young writer, is deeply in love with Mavis, who also resides at his boardinghouse and aspires to be a writer. His lack of financial means prevents him from marrying her, leading him to lash out at God for his difficult circumstances. Soon, Geoffrey encounters Prince Lucio de Rimanez, a rich and sophisticated man who tells him that he has come into a large sum of money, but that he must submit to the Prince's control in order to access his inheritance. Unbeknownst to Geoffrey, Prince Lucio is actually the Devil, who sees him as a test case to prove to God that he can corrupt anyone.
