What initially appears as a routine immigration check turns out to be something more sinister. Two Men in Black (MiB) agents arrive on the scene, taking over from the border patrol, and using neuralyzer devices to erase the memories of the border patrol officers. Kay and his elderly partner remove an extraterrestrial from the lineup and dispose of it. The agents return to New York and their underground headquarters located in a Battery Park station of the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority. Kay takes on a young New York City police officer, Jay, as his new partner. He mentors Jay as they work on their first case together: pursuing the remains of a farmer whose body has been taken over by a deadly cockroach. They fear that something bigger is about to happen and this fear is reinforced by information they receive from a doctor at the city morgue, Laurel.
