Belle of the Nineties (1934)

Ruby Carter, the reigning beauty queen of the nightclub scene in America, relocates her business from St. Louis to New Orleans to avoid prizefighter Tiger Kid. She becomes the main attraction at the "Sensation Club" run by Ace Lamont, who marks her as his personal property and incites the wrath of his former girlfriend, Molly Brant. Tiger Kid, who is not the sharpest tool in the shed, arrives in town for a championship match arranged by Ace, while he is also asked to steal some of Ruby's jewels. Ruby, who is not naive, realizes that Ace has rigged the fight and uses her remaining jewels to set a trap for him. After the fight, Tiger confesses to Ruby about his involvement in the jewel theft and she implies that Ace was the one who gave him the knockout drops. Tiger goes after Ace, who has locked Molly in a closet for his own reasons.
