Targets (1968)

Byron Orlok, a famous horror actor, decides to retire from the film industry as the constant news of violent acts has made his performances feel insincere. However, the studio convinces him to make one final appearance at a drive-in showing of one of his films. Meanwhile, Bobby Thompson, a young man struggling to connect with his family and wife, snaps and kills his wife, mother, and a grocery store employee before fleeing and taking his arsenal with him. He retreats to the top of a gas tank, using his rifle to shoot at passing motorists. The police pursue him to the drive-in where he begins shooting at the audience. Orlok confronts him, physically overpowering him and leading him to be taken into custody.
