The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957)

As Louise Carey and her husband Scott were cruising near Catalina Island on a borrowed boat, Louise went below deck to grab some beer while Scott stayed above to sunbathe. During her absence, a strange cloud or mist passed over Scott and left a sparkling residue on his body. A few months later, Scott begins to shrink at an alarming rate, and despite the efforts of doctors to find a cure, he continues to get smaller and smaller until he is the size of a Tom Thumb-like toy, living in a dollhouse. When the family cat attacks, Scott is swept down into the basement, where he battles and defeats a giant spider. He must now confront the question of whether he will be relegated to oblivion or infinity.
