Hands Across the Table (1935)

Regi, a young manicurist, is initially interested in wealthy Allen Macklyn, but is swayed when Theodore Drew III, an impoverished playboy, asks her out for dinner. Believing Drew to be rich, Regi eagerly accepts and is entertained in grand style. However, Drew confesses that he is actually penniless and the two spend Drew's planned vacation in Regi's apartment. As they spend time together, they both discard their cynical views on love and fall in love. Drew breaks off his engagement with Vivian and promises to marry Regi once he finds a job, while Macklyn misses his chance to propose to Regi.
