White Woman (1933)

Carole Lombard, Charles Laughton - White Woman

Horace Prin, the cruel overseer of a rubber plantation in Malaya, marries Judith Denning, an entertainer who is facing deportation. Judith's life at the plantation is made bearable by the presence of David von Eltz, one of Prin's workers. Driven by insane jealousy, Prin tries to eliminate von Eltz, whom he views as a coward, by sending him to a region of the jungle known to be inhabited by headhunters. However, von Eltz proves his courage and returns to Prin's camp.

During a native uprising, Ballister, an escaped convict who has come to work for Prin, helps Judith and von Eltz escape to the coast and safety. Prin and Ballister, resigned to death, sit down to play a final game of poker. Just as Prin, the "King of the River," draws a royal flush, his opponent is killed by a spear. Prin continues with the game, angry that Ballister did not live long enough to see his cards. A moment later, Prin is struck dead.
