Peacock Alley (1922)

Elmer Harmon travels to Paris to sign a contract with the French government and falls in love with dancer Cleo, who helps him secure the contract. They get married and return to Elmer's hometown in Pennsylvania, but Cleo's unconventional manners and Parisian fashion shock the locals. In New York, Elmer runs out of money and resorts to forging a check, leading to his arrest. Desperate to bail him out, Cleo takes a theatrical job, which causes a misunderstanding between the couple. Elmer returns to Harmontown alone, but later learns the truth and goes back to Cleo to ask for forgiveness.
