Bank Holiday (1938)

During a 1930s British summer Bank Holiday, the excitement begins at noon on Saturday as crowds rush to catch trains to the seaside. Doreen Richards, also known as Miss Fulham, joins her friend Milly for a beauty contest, while Geoffrey and nurse Catherine Lawrence secretly plan a weekend at the Grand Hotel. Although Catherine is preoccupied with a recent hospital case, they both hope to take a break from their duties. Meanwhile, Arthur, May, and their children enjoy a straightforward day of sun, sea, and pubs, while the manager and performers of the "Follies" on the pier hope for some rain to boost attendance.
