In the Fall of '64 (1914)

At a Confederate military hall located in a Southern mansion, Captain Ford and his fellow officers are enjoying themselves, with Virginia, the young hostess, being Captain Ford's sweetheart. Suddenly, the sentries outside report the arrival of Union soldiers. All the officers quickly depart to their commands. Initially, the Confederates, being outnumbered, try to outmaneuver the Union soldiers. However, after a short time, they change their strategy and entrench themselves on the surrounding hills. There is a brutal battle and the Union soldiers are driven back to Virginia's estate. Captain Ford is tasked with entering the Union lines to determine their strength. Once within the lines, he is pursued back to Virginia's home. She hides him under her bed and when the Union soldiers enter, she is found pretending to be asleep. The Union soldiers withdraw after she awakens and scolds them. She follows them and distracts them while Captain Ford escapes through the window. Virginia, after taking refuge with the slaves, disguises herself as an idiotic boy and gathers valuable information. Captain Ford is captured and brought back to her home. When he enters the room, she knocks over the lamp and he escapes through the window again, while she escapes to her room and changes back into her feminine attire. The Union officer in charge discovers her disguise, but during the heat of the battle, she escapes to the Confederate ranks. The information that Captain Ford and Virginia have collected turns the tide of the battle, and the Union forces are defeated.
