Inherit the Wind (1960)

Teacher B.T. Cates is taken to court for teaching the theories of Darwin, which is against the state law. The well-known lawyer, Drummond, is called to defend Cates and the renowned politician, Matthew Brady, appears for the prosecution. Both inside and outside of the court, there is a debate between a literal interpretation of the Bible and scientific theories. The jury finds Cates guilty, but the judge only imposes a small fine. Drummond announces that he will appeal the decision. Brady, feeling remorseful and denied the chance to clear his name, dies of a heart attack in the courtroom.
