Marie Galante (1934)

Marie Galante is kidnapped by a drunken sea captain who claims she is a stowaway and abandons her in Yucatan. She manages to travel to the Panama Canal zone, where she earns a living singing in a cafe. She becomes embroiled in a counter espionage plot to sabotage the Canal. Crawbett, an American intelligence officer, believes her story of kidnapping, tries to assist her and then falls in love with her. The plot is exposed, and the Canal is saved.
