Prunella (1918)





Prunella is kept isolated from the world by her three maiden aunts, Prim, Prude, and Privacy. One day, a group of traveling performers pass by and she catches a glimpse of the dashing Pierrot. He is captivated by her beauty and jumps into the garden to declare his love for her. That night, Prunella elopes with Pierrot and becomes a successful actress in Paris. They are happy for a while, but Pierrot eventually leaves her for another woman. He later realizes the depth of his love for Prunella and returns to the garden to find her. He discovers that she has retired from the stage and buys a cottage for her from her last surviving aunt. At a party, he wanders into the garden and mistakenly thinks he sees her ghost, but to his joy finds that she is alive.
