Mother Machree (1928)





Ellen McHugh, a poor Irish immigrant to America, finds work in a carnival and is able to send her son Brian to a prestigious school. However, when her position is discovered, the school expels Brian. To provide him with better opportunities, Ellen allows the school principal and his wife to adopt him. Ellen becomes a housekeeper and raises her employer's daughter, Edith, who later falls in love with Brian McHugh.
