Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison (1957)
A hard-bitten US Marine is washed ashore on a small Pacific island and already finds it inhabited, not by the Japanese, but by a young nun. Amid the hazards of enemy attack, the unlikely pair settle down to the problems of living together in this sometimes comic and sometimes moving story, set during World War II.
