A Tale of Two Cities (1958)

In London at the time of the French Revolution, dissolute young lawyer Sidney Carton gives evidence at the trial of Charles Darnay, a nephew of a French marquis, and secures his acquittal. Although he is married to Lucie Manette, the daughter of a Paris doctor released after long captivity in the Bastille, Darnay risks death by returning to France to aid an old family servant arrested at the outbreak of the Revolution.
