That Hagen Girl (1947)

Mary Hagen lives in a small town in Ohio and attends Jordon Junior College. For years, there have been whispers, rumors, and gossip about her true parents. Tom Bates returns to town and takes over the house and practice that Judge Merrivale left him after his death. This leads to even more gossip and Mary begins to believe that Tom is her father. Ken, a wealthy and popular local, loves Mary, but his family and friends remind him that she is "not one of them." Julia, a teacher at the school, supports Mary, but she faces constant obstacles and accusations in everything she does. Tom, who knows the truth about her identity, remains silent.
