Judith Nelson abandoned her medical career to get married, but years later her physician husband leaves her for another doctor. She now lives in a lavish New York apartment, searching for purpose. Pat Francato, the building's janitor and elevator operator, is struggling with the aftermath of his daughter's death and gambling debts.
