Die Sehnsucht der Veronika Voss (1982)

The sports reporter, Robert Krohn, meets by chance the ex-UFA star, Veronika Voss, still an attractive and extremely interesting woman. Fascinated by her personality and charm, he is determined to see her again. His investigations reveal that Veronika Voss is staying with a doctor.

Dr Katz, a lovely old lady, confirms that Veronika is occupying a room in her house, and is one of her patients. The same day Robert receives a letter from Veronika saying she had to leave town unexpectedly. In the evening, however, she waits for him in front of his house looking beautiful, mysterious and seductive. Her suggestion of spending the night together in her villa comes as the most natural thing in the world.

This night turns out to be the key to Veronika Voss' secret which Krohn was so keen to obtain, resulting in a crashed career, the ruin of a person, the destruction of a self — consequences of a most horrible plot, the brainchild of "lovely old" Dr Katz.
