Ordeal by Innocence (1984)
Dr Arthur Calgary, back in England after a lengthy trip, finds that a youth, Jack Argyle, has been sentenced to death for the murder of his mother. Having been with Argyle at the time of the murder, Calgary realises that he is the young man's sole alibi and rushes to prison to demand an audience with the Governor. But he arrives too late, Argyle has been hanged.
