The eccentric expatriate composer Sanger passes away in his home in the Austrian Alps, leaving his daughters without any financial support. However, Sanger's daughter Tessa has feelings for Lewis as well, and when she escapes school to live with Florence and her husband, their already-fragile marriage is further destabilized.
