Returning from an encounter with a ghostly apparition at the New York Public Library, university para-psychologists Venkman, Stantz and Spengler are informed by the Dean that their funding has been cut off. They go into business for themselves as 'Ghost Busters' and acquire as their first client Dana Barrett, whose kitchen has registered activity by poltergeists. Later summoned to a swanky hotel, the intrepid trio cause chaos as they capture a lively green sprite. With a new addition to the team, Winston Zeddmore, the quartet go about their business with great gusto - they ain't afraid of no ghost!
