Zezowate szczescie (1960)

Zezowate szczescie

The tale follows a small man's journey through Poland from 1930 to 1950 as he struggles to adapt to a rapidly changing world that appears to have no place for him. Throughout the story, he struggles to understand the world around him and is constantly on the brink of becoming a more coherent person, only to be disappointed. The story starts with the protagonist's childhood, and then moves on to his first love, which is marred by his unwillingly involvement in fascist politics, and him being mistaken for a Jew due to his nose. Later, he decides to join the army in an attempt to win back the girl, but arrives too late for any fighting. He is apprehended by German troops while dressed in an officer's uniform and mistakenly sent to a POW camp as an officer.
