The Band Wagon (1953)

Gay and lively musical, in Technicolor. A persistent freshness of atmosphere overcomes a familiar story about the Broadway-bound show which nearly doesn't go on but in the end does—thanks to the co-operative efforts of the gallant company after the withdrawal of the backers. Highspot of the movie is the climactic ballet, a brilliant satire on the tough-egg detective tales. An outstanding comedy performance by Jack Buchanan. 1
