Mr. 'Silent' Haskins (1915)

Rhea Mitchell, William S. Hart - Mr. 'Silent' Haskins

Priscilla Miller, a young and attractive village milliner, is a prominent figure in her community's uplift work. One day, she receives a letter from Lon Haskins in Gunning, Arizona, informing her of her uncle's passing and her inheritance of his business. Determined to take on the responsibility, Priscilla travels to Arizona and is shocked to discover that the business is actually a large saloon and gambling hall. Horrified by this, she orders Lon to shut it down, much to the annoyance of the townspeople.

Jim Black, a professional gambler, sees an opportunity in this situation and suggests to Priscilla that they marry and he takes over the business. However, when he tries to put his plan into action, Lon intervenes and tells him to leave. Outside the saloon, the two men decide to gamble for Priscilla's hand, with the loser leaving town and giving up the girl.

Using a trick seal ring, Lon wins the bet but doesn't tell Priscilla about it as he thinks she doesn't have feelings for him. Priscilla, on the other hand, decides to go back home and leaves a note for Lon, telling him that he is welcome to her uncle's place if he had cared for the owner. However, Lon is determined to win Priscilla's heart and catches up with her on the stagecoach, where he takes her to the minister to get married.
