After the Show (1921)

Pop O'Malley, a former actor turned elderly doorkeeper at a theater, develops a paternal fondness for Eileen, a struggling young chorus girl. Sensing her financial struggles, Pop opens his heart and home to Eileen, providing her with a new wardrobe and securing a job for her at the theater. Meanwhile, Larry Taylor, a wealthy backer of the show, also takes an interest in Eileen, raising Pop's suspicions about his true intentions.

Despite Pop's warnings, Eileen falls for Larry's charms and accepts his invitation to a weekend party at his country estate. Concerned for Eileen's well-being, Pop follows her, only to face rejection when he urges her to leave with him. Overwhelmed by despair, the old man resorts to slashing his wrist with a broken bottle. In a turn of events, Larry intervenes by summoning a doctor and offering a lifesaving blood transfusion from his own veins.

Grateful for Larry's unexpected act of kindness, Pop eventually gives his consent to the blossoming romance when Larry reveals his sincere intention to marry Eileen. The story concludes with an unexpected twist, highlighting the transformative power of compassion and genuine intentions.
