Making the Grade (1929)

This second Fox feature Movietone venture is a ripping success. It is based on George Ade's story of a small town aristocrat whom love and the gardener's daughter made into a human being. Edmund Lowe upholds both the Dodsworth traditions; and Lois Moran is honestly more winning than usual. Smooth, fast action for which other talkies have vainly striven.
