Song o' My Heart (1930)

John McCormack, Maureen O'Sullivan - Song o' My Heart

Sean, a talented tenor, is in semi-retirement and living in a village near Mary, the woman he has always loved. Unfortunately, Mary was convinced by her aunt to marry a wealthy man, who recently deserted her, leaving her and her two children, Eileen and Tad, penniless. They are forced to move in with Mary's selfish and austere aunt and are miserable. Meanwhile, Eileen is falling in love with Fergus, a young man who is leaving for Dublin to seek his fortune.

Sean is drawn out of retirement and goes on tour in America. During his first concert, he is nervous and out of sorts until the last song, when peace descends on him like a gift. Something has happened to him that has restored his confidence.

Will Sean's renewed passion for singing help set things right for Mary and her family? Can Eileen and Fergus find a way to be together despite the obstacles in their way? Only time will tell if broken hearts in Ireland can be mended.
