De geheimen van Barslet (2012)
The small Dutch village of Barslet, situated in the middle of nowhere, seems like a typical and tranquil community. But appearances can be deceiving. The village is suddenly thrown into turmoil as a string of peculiar events takes place: a pyromaniac wreaks havoc, a boy's death is shrouded in mystery, a child displays an uncanny ability to predict the future, and fish rain down from the sky on the village square. Over the course of 7 episodes, the television series presents the same sequence of events, but each time through the eyes of a different villager. This allows the viewer to gain deeper insight into the reasons behind the strange happenings, but with each answer comes more questions. The village's name "Barslet" has an intriguing meaning; "Bars" meaning "unfriendly" and "let" meaning "people" in medieval Dutch, making it "unfriendly people."
