James Oliver Curwood sticks to his story. It's another of those wide open spaces operas where the silver-spooned hero goes west, young man, and grows up with the lumber camp. Lila Lee shouldn't wear bobbed hair. Her only claim to individuality was the sleek coiffure. Cornelius Keefe registers emotion in a big way by covering his eyes with his hands. There's some nice scenic stuff but you can find that in any good travelogue.
