Ransom (1928)

Petty international strife over a war gas formula, but "you'll appreciate the difference." Sly Chinese dogs leap at the throat of a famous young chemist but thanks to modern handling of an old screen story, refreshing and logical angles replace the usual trite details. Edmund Burns and Lois Wilson head the cast, William V. Mong is the crafty Wu Fang who kidnaps the lady's young son, played by Jackie Coombs with characteristic nonchalance. Nice intrigue.
