Hardboiled (1929)
This is a trite tale about a gold-digger — show-girl variety — but is remarkably well-acted by Sally O'Neil and Donald Reed. A high stepper, working on the theory that fools marry for love and wise gals for money, gets the jolt of her sweet young hfe. Her bank-account love turns into the real article in spite of herself, even after hubby's millionaire pop turns off the gold stream. Modern and sophisticated.
