Louise Brooks - A Social Celebrity

In a small town, Max Haber is a barber who works for his father at an old-fashioned barber shop. Max is in love with Kitty Laverne, a manicurist, but she wants to pursue her dream of becoming a dancer and heads to New York. In New York, Max is spotted by Mrs. Jackson-Greer and she convinces him to pretend to be a French count. There he meets April, Mrs. King's niece, and falls for both her and Kitty, who has now become a showgirl. At the theater where Kitty performs, Max is the best-dressed man in April's group, but later at a nightclub, Kitty exposes him and he loses his society friends. Heartbroken, Max returns home at his father's request. Soon after, Kitty follows him, realizing he is unhappy without her.
