The 1930s. Caught up in a bank robbery shoot-out that takes the life of his friend, World War One Marine veteran Dave Barrett kills one of the hold-up men. Then Barrett, taking the first step towards becoming a professional bounty hunter during one of America's most lawless periods, decides to track down the rest of the bank robbers throughout the American northwest, the territory of gang leader Frank Clinger.
