The Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter (1980)





During World War Two American women found themselves in demand as war workers. It affected rural women, blacks and poor whites, increasing their earning power and thereby giving a new dignity to their new lives. Propaganda encouraged them to take pride in factory life. But then the war was over, propaganda promptly insisted that the women's place was in the home.
