Edgar Chalmers discovers that he can escape his wife's incessant nagging by 'dreaming' of ways to murder her. His wife, Sylvia, is a frustrated middle-aged woman who blames Edgar for her misery. As their desperation mounts, Edgar and Sylvia implement schemes to kill each other but their frustrations are fuelled as each attempt is badly bungled.
