Make Me an Offer (1955)
Charlie, an antiques dealer, has a passion for Wedgwood, in particular for a famous Portland vase, stolen an untraced for some years. Inspecting a country house up for sale, with a room allegedly full of Wedgwood plaques, he discovers that the plaques are fakes. By chance, though, he meets an eccentric young girl, Nicky, living in a cottage in the grounds with her grandfather, Sir John, who once owned the mansion. Charlie discovers the Portland vase there.
