George Purse worked hard in a steel mill doing a dirty and dangerous job. Today he is the gamekeeper on a duke's estate. This dramatised documentary looks at his relationship with the countryside, his family and the way he controls birds for the duke's shoot. It captures to the full the earthy atmosphere and language which surrounds the work of the gamekeeper. The film is based on the book by Barry Hines.
