Yolanda and the Thief (1945)

Johnny Riggs, a professional con artist on the run, ends up in the Latin-American country of Patria. While there, he overhears a wealthy girl raised in a convent praying for help with her complicated business matters. Riggs poses as her guardian angel and uses her trust to steal her millions. But as he and his partner are getting ready to leave the country with their stolen money, Riggs realizes he has fallen in love with the girl. He returns the money with a note that is part apology and part love letter. However, their exit from Patria proves to be more challenging than they had anticipated.
