Boris Karloff - The Mummy

In ancient Egypt, Im-Ho-Tep (played by Boris Karloff), a high priest, is buried alive after stealing the magical Scroll of Thoth in an attempt to revive his deceased lover, an Egyptian princess. The scroll is buried with him. Three thousand seven hundred years later, a British museum unearths the mummy of Im-Ho-Tep and the scroll. A young archaeologist (played by Bramwell Fletcher) reads the words of Thoth aloud, causing the mummy to come to life and disappear with the scroll. The young archaeologist becomes insane and dies soon after. Ten years later, Im-Ho-Tep, disguised as an Egyptian archaeologist, leads another British expedition to the tomb of the princess. After it is transferred to the Cairo Museum, Im-Ho-Tep attempts to revive the princess using the scroll, but discovers that her soul has been reincarnated into the young body of Helen Grosvenor (played by Zita Johann). Dr. Muller (played by Edward Van Sloan), an expert on occult science, uncovers Im-Ho-Tep's true identity. He tries to break Im-Ho-Tep's evil spell over Helen, who is in love with young Frank Whemple (played by David Manners). Despite Dr. Muller's efforts, Helen is lured to the museum where Im-Ho-Tep plans to kill her, so they can spend eternal life together. But the statue of Isis comes to life and destroys the scroll and Im-Ho-Tep. Freed from his spell, Helen is finally reunited with Frank.
