The Invisible Menace (1938)





Following a brief leave, Pvt. Eddie Pratt (Eddie Craven) smuggles his new bride, Sally (Marie Wilson), to Powder Island Arsenal, a government reservation. Intending to hide her in an unoccupied building, they discover the mutilated body of an officer. After an investigation begins, a mysterious attempt is made on the lives of the officers in charge. Every member on the post falls under suspicion.

Realizing that their lives are in danger, the officers enlist the aid of Colonel Rogers (Cy Kendall) of the Military Intelligence. After Colonel Rogers arrives to take charge of the case, he recognizes one of the civilians, Jevries (Boris Karloff). to be an embezzler whom he arrested years before. It is also revealed that the murdered man was his enemy. As the accused man protests his innocence, the circumstantial evidence grows. But Sally accidentally stumbles upon the identity of the real murderer.
